At Holbourn House, we understand that good food fuels great learning, and that’s why every meal we serve is made from scratch using fresh, high-quality ingredients - just like you’d cook at home.
Our meals and snacks offer nutrition and diversity, featuring some familiar, well-loved recipes (like spaghetti bolognaise, vegetable soup and jacket potatoes) and some new flavours from around the world (such as Chinese noodles, Thai massaman curry and Spanish tortilla), helping children to expand their experience with taste and texture.
We know how important it is for every child to feel included and safe at the table – so allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements are fully catered for, with like-for-like alternatives and separate food preparation, and are served on different coloured plates with clear labelling.

Carefully Planned for Balance and Variety
Our menus are created with children’s health, curiosity and happiness in mind. We make sure every meal covers all the essentials, so they get a good mix of carbs, protein, and fibre, alongside all the colourful fruits and veggies they need. Here’s how we make mealtimes special:
Meals are cooked from scratch every day with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
We stick to low salt and sugar, and use reduced-fat, trimmed meats for healthier meals.
Snacks are a variety of filling carbs and fruit or veg for a boost of goodness. We also use snack times for trying new food
All main meals are balanced and our second sitting, for the older children, is self-serve (under adult supervision), encouraging fine motor skills and enabling children to choose their own portions.
Water is served with every meal.
Children are always encouraged to try new foods in a low-pressure environment.

Good Food Fuels Great Learning
Healthy meals, snacks and refreshments are vital for nurturing the mind, helping to support little learners as they explore, discover and grow.
Our approach strives for inclusivity, independence and healthy attitudes to food and nourishment, helping children understand the importance of a balanced diet, explore taste and flavours and ultimately fuel their ability to learn and play at Holbourn House.
