Holbourn House: Welcoming Every Child

At Holbourn House, we know how important it is to find the right nursery for your child -especially if they have additional needs. Our experienced team is here to support you every step of the way, making sure your child feels happy, included and valued.

Expert Support, Every Day

With years of experience and up-to-date training, our team members are experts in helping children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We work with the SEND Code of Practice, Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and the Equality Act 2010 to guide our inclusive approach. Our SENCOs are always on hand to help, alongside all team members who receive ongoing training and work closely with families and professionals.

Although we have decades of experience supporting a wide range of needs, we know there may be times when a child has specific needs that require additional specialist training – we work closely with families to identify the right training and ensure our team is fully prepared before your child starts with us.

How We Support Your Child

We take the time to get to know your child, using regular observations and assessments to spot their unique strengths and any areas where extra help might be needed. Our support is tailored to your child, using easy-to-follow strategies that we review together.

Targets are set with you and broken down into small, manageable steps, so progress is clear and achievable.

  • Adapting routines and activities for each child

  • Using visual supports and structured routines

  • Providing extra help from trained team members

  • Celebrating every achievement, big or small

Working With You

We believe partnership is key. We listen to your insights and keep you involved at every stage. If your child needs more support, we connect with specialists like speech therapists, occupational therapists and others, always with your consent. Our team also supports transitions to new settings or schools, so you and your child feel confident.

External support

With parental / carer consent, we may seek additional support from a range of external agencies and services including:

  • West Northamptonshire Inclusion and Intervention Support Team (IIST)

  • Educational Psychology (EP)

  • Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)

  • Occupational Therapy (OT)

  • Physiotherapy (PT)

  • Community Paediatrician / Child Development Centre (CDC)

  • Health Visitors

  • Early Help Team

Parents / carers can also access information about SEND services, support and eligibility across education, health and social care through the West Northamptonshire Local Offer.

Children With Identified Needs

If your child joins us with a diagnosis or a plan (like an EHCP or HCP), we make sure everything is up to date and reviewed regularly. Our experience means we’re ready for complex needs and can help with things like risk assessments and emergency plans, always keeping your child’s safety and wellbeing at the heart of what we do.

Our Promise

We’re here to make sure every child feels safe, happy, and included. If you want to know more about our SEND support, just ask any of our friendly team or check out our SEND Policy - we’re always happy to chat and help.
